Cultural Identities

About Gabby Gomez, SWC

Hey there, I’m Gabby!

Chances are, you were handed a map you never asked for. Get good grades, pick the right career path, keep your feelings in check, don’t dare fall behind. And somewhere along the way, you started to detach because the pressure was too much. Or maybe, you lost something that made you take a detour from the path, something you haven’t had the space to grieve. And growing up in a Latinx household in the United States comes with its own unique challenges–from the pressure to make your immigrant parents’ sacrifices “worth it” to feeling like you’re caught between two conflicting identities and unsure which you belong to.
I support teens and young adults (10-35) carrying both: the teen who has had to grow up too fast and tries to hold it all together alone and the young adult grieving a life they thought they’d have.
Whether you’re the person holding it all together or grieving what could have been, it’s a burden that can’t stay silent. It builds in your chest, your stomach, or maybe into a storm of thoughts that won’t stop rolling in, all tangling together until you’re snapping at people you love, shutting down, and sinking into a sadness you can’t quite explain.
Together, we’ll explore the parts of you that have been overlooked or dismissed. Your identities, you values, your culture, your lived experience. From managing stress to navigating life transitions to making peace with your mind and body…whatever you’re holding, I’ll be right beside you.
