Cultural Identities

About Veronica Loera, LCSW

Welcome y Bienvenide!

I have had the privilege to work in the mental health field for over 20 years. I provide evidence‑based treatment grounded in cultural humility and deep respect for each client’s lived experience. I value social justice and inclusivity and affirm my clients’ unique identity.

As a  first Gen Mexican American, eldest daughter to immigrant parents, I understand the challenges that come with code switching and carrying generational wounds as you try to navigate daily life.

Being part of the first generation experience, whether due to migration, first to graduate high school or college, or life transitions can often feel overwhelming. When resources and social support are limited, your physical and emotional wellbeing can be negatively impacted.

If you are someone who experienced toxic stress in childhood, you may also experience unresolved trauma as an adult. When traumas go untreated, it may lead to a chronic stress cycle that keeps you stuck and dysregulated in your nervous system and disconnected in your interpersonal relationships.

I work from a trauma informed and person-centered framework focused on teaching you healthy coping strategies and nervous system regulation so that you can improve your capacity for better physical and mental health.

I am an EMDR certified therapist, trained in CBT, DBT, and somatic therapies. I specialize in working with adults, Latinx/Latine and BIPOC folks, early attachment issues/relational trauma, PTSD, first gen issues, and women’s mental health.

Taking the first steps in starting therapy can feel unsettling, but you don’t have to go at it alone. Let’s connect and book a free 15 minute phone consultation.
