Cultural Identities

About Andrea Espinosa, LCSW

You may be the person who appears capable and composed while privately feeling anxious, emotionally exhausted, or disconnected from yourself. Perhaps you are used to being strong for your family, managing everyone’s needs, or pushing through difficult emotions because slowing down has never felt like an option.

I work with adults and couples, with a particular focus on women of color and first-generation children of immigrants navigating anxiety, trauma, grief, relationship challenges, and major life transitions. Many of my clients are trying to understand how family expectations, childhood experiences, and past relationships continue to shape the way they respond to stress, express their needs, and connect with the people they love.

As a bilingual Spanish-speaking therapist, I offer therapy in both English and Spanish. You will not have to separate your emotional experiences from your culture, family history, or identity. Together, we can explore the tension between caring deeply for the people in your life and learning how to care for yourself without guilt.

My approach is warm, collaborative, somatic, and relational. We will talk about what you are experiencing while also paying attention to how anxiety, trauma, and emotional stress show up in your body. I integrate Brainspotting, mindfulness, and nervous system regulation to help you process experiences that may not have shifted through insight alone.

I also work with couples who feel caught in the same arguments, misunderstandings, or emotional distance. Using Imago Relationship Therapy, I help partners slow down reactive patterns, understand what is happening underneath the conflict, and communicate in ways that create more safety and connection.

Therapy can help you feel more grounded in your body, more confident expressing your needs, and more connected to yourself and your relationships. You do not need to have everything figured out before beginning. We can start with what feels most present and move at a pace that feels supportive.

I would be honored to help you take the next step.
