About Psychiatrist & Referral Process

I’m a doctorally trained Physician Associate with a global perspective and a deep- rooted passion for whole-person care. Originally from Peru, I began my academic journey studying Nutrition before emigrating to the United States to continue my education.

I earned my Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 2012, followed by a Master of Physician Assistant Studies from Touro University Nevada in 2017. In 2020, I completed my Doctor of Medical Science (DMSc) with a concentration in Psychiatry at Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions.

With broad experience treating anxiety and mood disorders, psychotic spectrum, trauma disorders, and more, I use a medical approach that integrates conventional psychiatric methods with functional and integrative approaches. I want to explain what Integrative psychiatry means in practice, because it’s different from what a lot of people have experienced.

Traditional psychiatry tends to focus on symptoms and medication. That’s an important part of what we do too, but symptoms don’t exist in a vacuum. Everyone has lived a full, human life, one shaped by how you eat, sleep, move, what you believe, love, and what gets you out of bed in the morning.

We don’t have two patients on the same treatment plan, because no two patients are the same person. When we’re working with someone, we want to know who they are, not their diagnosis. What does your day look like? What are you eating? Are you moving your body? What gives your life meaning? Sleep, nutrition, physical activity, and spiritual or community connection are all part of the picture.

That level of attention to circumstance is what we mean when we say whole-person care. Whole-Person Psychiatry isn’t a philosophical buzzword salad; it’s how we plan and organize our appointments.

Deep within my heart, I believe that healing begins with listening. I lead with empathy, clinical excellence, and a steadfast dedication to client-centered care—ensuring that every decision is guided by the individual’s goals, values, and voice.
