Cultural Identities

About Karina Gomez, LCSW / Volverati.Returntoself

I am a bilingual Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and EMDR Certified therapist specializing in complex trauma, attachment wounds, generational trauma, and culturally informed mental health care.

As the founder of VOLVER A TI / RETURN TO SELF, I provide trauma-focused psychotherapy for adolescents and adults who require deeper trauma processing beyond short-term symptom stabilization.

I frequently receive referrals for clients who:

• Have not responded to traditional talk therapy
• Present with chronic anxiety or depression rooted in trauma
• Experience emotional shutdown, irritability, or relational conflict
• Struggle with shame, dissociation, or emotional suppression
• Present with attachment injuries impacting relationships
• Require EMDR for developmental or complex trauma
• Need culturally responsive care (Spanish-speaking and Latino communities)

My clinical framework integrates:

• EMDR (Certified)
• Internal Family Systems (IFS-informed parts work)
• Somatic and nervous system regulation
• Trauma-informed attachment repair
• Cultural and intergenerational trauma exploration

I prioritize careful assessment, stabilization, and interdisciplinary collaboration. I value clear communication with referring providers regarding treatment focus, stabilization progress, and transition planning when appropriate.
