My name is Anamile Idalia Guerra, and I am a bilingual Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPC-A), fluent in English and Spanish. I am supervised by Jennifer Gonzalez and Amanda Varnon, and I’m committed to offering counseling services that are grounded in compassion, professionalism, and genuine respect for each person’s unique story. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from UTRGV and my Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from USW, experiences that strengthened both my clinical foundation and my belief in the power of supportive, collaborative therapy.
I understand that reaching out for help can feel intimidating. Many people carry concerns about being judged, misunderstood, or “not knowing where to start.” Taking the first step often requires courage—especially when you’ve been managing stress, anxiety, sadness, trauma, or relationship difficulties on your own for a long time. My goal is to make that first step feel less overwhelming by providing a safe, confidential, and genuinely supportive space where you can speak openly and be met with understanding. Therapy is not about having everything figured out; it’s about having a place where you don’t have to carry everything alone.
At the core of my work is a belief that you are the expert on your own life. My approach to counseling is rooted in person-centered therapy, which emphasizes empathy, authenticity, and unconditional positive regard. This means I strive to meet you where you are, listen deeply, and work at a pace that feels manageable. Whether you’re processing painful experiences, navigating major life transitions, or trying to make sense of your emotions, you deserve a therapeutic relationship built on trust, respect, and consistency.
In addition to person-centered therapy, I integrate positive psychology, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT). These approaches allow us to address both immediate concerns and long-term growth. Positive psychology helps identify and strengthen what is already working—such as your resilience, values, personal strengths, and sources of meaning—so you can build a life that feels more fulfilling and aligned. CBT can help you understand the connection between your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, and it offers practical tools to shift patterns that may be keeping you stuck. When appropriate, SFBT helps us focus on clear goals, identify small but meaningful steps forward, and create solutions that fit your daily life.
I support individuals who may be experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, and other life challenges. Sometimes these struggles show up as constant worry, irritability, panic symptoms, difficulty sleeping, loss of interest, low motivation, disconnection, or feeling overwhelmed. Other times, they show up in relationships—communication breakdowns, repeated conflict, difficulty setting boundaries, or feeling unheard. Whatever brings you to therapy, we can work together to develop coping strategies, increase insight, and foster lasting change in a way that feels realistic and supportive.
I have experience working with a wide range of clients, including children ages five and up, teenagers, adults, older adults, and couples. With children and adolescents, counseling may focus on emotional regulation, coping skills, self-esteem, social challenges, family stress, or school-related concerns. With adults and older adults, therapy can include managing anxiety or depression, navigating grief and loss, adjusting to life transitions, strengthening self-worth, and building healthier patterns in relationships and daily routines. With couples, therapy can provide a space to improve communication, clarify needs, reduce conflict, rebuild connection, and create shared goals for the relationship.
Because I am bilingual, I can provide counseling in English or Spanish, depending on what feels most comfortable for you. Language can be deeply tied to identity, family, and emotional expression, and I believe you should have the option to communicate in the language that best reflects your lived experience. Whether you’re more comfortable speaking Spanish, English, or a combination of both, I will meet you with care and respect.
Ultimately, I view therapy as a collaborative process—one that honors your pace, your strengths, and your capacity for growth. My commitment is to walk alongside you with compassion and clinical skill as you work toward greater clarity, healing, and balance. You don’t have to have all the answers to begin. If you’re ready to start exploring what change could look like, I’m here to support you in taking that next step.
