About Cindy Recinos, LCPC

Hi, I’m Cindy Recinos, a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in Illinois and the founder of Lua Cavela PLLC. I provide therapy for adults in Chicago and across Illinois.

Do any of these thoughts sound familiar?

“I can’t stop thinking about how I came across.”

“I keep repeating the same dating pattern.”

“I’m afraid of disappointing other people.”

“When someone is upset, I feel like I need to make them feel better or get away from the situation.”

“I miss them so much. Part of me still waits for them to come back.”

“I feel alone in this relationship.”

“I say yes when I mean no.”

“I want to socialize, but I’m afraid I’ll say something embarrassing.”

“I care, but I struggle to talk about feelings or stay engaged.”

“My stomach drops when my partner feels distant.”

You know what keeps happening, but changing it feels hard. Therapy can help you understand what keeps you stuck, respond differently, and feel more confident in yourself and your relationships.

My approach to therapy is warm, practical, and culturally responsive. I draw from several therapy approaches, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), attachment-based therapy, motivational interviewing, and psychodynamic therapy. In addition, I developed the ROOTS framework, an integrative approach that looks at how early experiences, culture, identity, belief systems, and larger social systems have shaped how you cope, relate, and move through the world. This allows us to work not only on symptoms like anxiety or stress, but also on understanding you within the full context of your life.
