Cultural Identities

About Charles Zamora, LCSW

As a bilingual, first-generation Mexican-American and Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I bring both personal understanding and professional expertise to the therapy room. Growing up between cultures taught me the importance of resilience, identity, and connection, and it also gave me a deep appreciation for the unique challenges that come with navigating multiple worlds at once. These experiences inspired me to dedicate my career to supporting others, particularly Latinx and multicultural individuals who may feel caught between expectations, roles, or cultural values.

My practice is grounded in the belief that every person has an innate capacity for healing and growth. I strive to create a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space where clients feel truly seen and heard. Therapy, for me, is a collaborative process. You are the expert in your own life, and my role is to walk alongside you, offering tools, guidance, and perspective to help you navigate life’s challenges.

I work primarily with adults experiencing stress, trauma, grief, anxiety, depression, and life transitions. Many of my clients are professionals, caregivers, or parents balancing multiple roles, often struggling with self-doubt, burnout, or feelings of disconnection. Others are navigating the impact of intergenerational trauma, family expectations, or the complexities of being first-generation. Whatever brings you to therapy, my goal is to meet you where you are and support you in moving toward the life you want to live.

Clinically, I draw from evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and mindfulness practices. CBT helps clients identify and shift unhelpful thought patterns that contribute to stress and emotional pain. EMDR is especially powerful in helping people process traumatic memories and reduce their emotional impact. Mindfulness techniques invite clients to reconnect with their bodies, regulate their nervous systems, and find grounding in the present moment. I often integrate these modalities to fit the unique needs of each client, creating a flexible and personalized approach to healing.

Cultural responsiveness is at the heart of my work. I recognize that therapy is not one-size-fits-all, and I am intentional about considering your cultural background, values, language, and lived experiences. As a bilingual therapist, I offer sessions in both English and Spanish, allowing clients to express themselves in the language that feels most authentic. For many of my clients, being able to “switch” between languages or bring in phrases from both feels liberating and healing in itself.

In addition to clinical skills, I bring warmth, humor, and authenticity into the therapy room. I believe healing happens not only through techniques, but also through genuine human connection. Clients often describe me as approachable, compassionate, and down-to-earth. I see therapy as a space where you can bring all parts of yourself — your strengths, your struggles, and even the stories you might not have told anyone else.

My hope is that through our work together, you will begin to feel more empowered, more at peace with your story, and more connected to yourself and those around you. Healing does not mean erasing the past, but rather finding new ways to carry it, honoring your resilience, and stepping forward with clarity and confidence.

Whether you are seeking therapy for the first time or returning after past experiences, know that you don’t have to navigate this journey alone. I would be honored to walk with you as you take the next steps toward healing, growth, and self-discovery.
