Hola! I am so glad you are here looking for support. I am a first generation Chicana, bilingual, bicultural family therapist and Mami to two kiddos. My life experiences have been my biggest teachers in life. That is why I am passionate about working with those who live life along the margins, new parents or families with young children, couples, and supporting therapists in training!
We all experience life challenges that leave us feeling overwhelmed, confused, and burdened at times. For Bipoc folks, there are additional stressors and difficulties that can make us feel inadequate or needing a space to truly be understood in a way that the outside world might not “get it.”
I am deeply committed to working with individuals and couples who are navigating life cycle changes, particularly the formation of new families and families with newborn/young children. This is one of the most challenging times of a couple relationship, and my own experience has taught me that having a space to grow and connect with another is the most valuable tool for creating a meaningful relationship with oneself, your partner and your children.
My approach is to integrate sociocultural and contextual factors such as race, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity (to name a few) that impact a person’s lived experience and to understand how your family legacy informs who you are. I seek to provide a space where you can be validated, held in your feelings and challenged to tap into your own resilience and live a life that is meaningful to you.
Lastly, as a former academic, I spent over 10 years teaching and training new therapists. I am passionate about supporting first gen therapists from a culturally attuned and critical perspective. I understand how challenging it can be to not have mentors along this journey who don’t come from cultural backgrounds such as yours.
It is my deep privilege to bear witness to your life story and walk alongside you in search of healing and transformation!
