I identify as an Indigenous Mexican woman, mother, sister, daughter, firme pareja and abuela whose family originated from both Xalisco y Durango. I am active physically and spiritually in traditions that have been rescued and promote richness, color and wisdom. I have learned from my elders in California as well as Mexico. I am the head of a traditional indigenous Aztec dance circle that has practiced since 1989 that applies movement, community empowerment and spiritual prayer. I believe in working toward healing spiritually, socially, emotionally and that healing in therapy is a ceremony.
I specialize in supporting adults, older teens, facing difficult life transitions, relationship issues, intergenerational/ historical traumas, grief/loss, depression and anxiety. I have worked in public health and mental health for over 20 years. I provide support from a multicultural lens, taking into account physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional wounds. My work is rooted in empowering and supporting individuals on their journey of healing. I sit alongside clients as they reconcile emotional and behavioral wounds and uncover inner strengths, insight and increase awareness about themselves and their histories.
My framework is based on client-centered, psychodynamic, trauma-informed, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy within a cultural lens. I integrate the modality that the client needs. I am a bilingual/bicultural Licensed Marriage and Family therapist. I am fluent in Spanish and English. My sessions are warm, empathic and authentic. I meet you where you are at. I am real and bring that into my session.
