10/26/25: Marketing Consultation Notes

This marketing consultation is a series of 4 that will take place once a month for Standard and Premium members.

Today’s theme was digital marketing. This includes websites, directories, social media platforms, advertisements, video content creation, and blogs- among a few others. We focused on the following which will include brief summary points:

Websites

  • Speak to your ideal clients on your homepage and in specialty pages. Be sure that your content includes keywords that clients would be googling to find your services. I recommend doing research on answerthepublic.com and Google Trends.
  • Each section (or at minimum each page) should have a call to action link after her paragraph. A call to action answers what you want the reader to do after reading that section. For therapists it’s often: Schedule your free consultation, Contact me here, Send a text, Get in touch, Learn More here, etc.
  • On the homepage, I would recommend having a section that speaking to an ideal specialty or ideal population in a way that discusses their pain points: What kind of thoughts do they have on a day to day? What kind of lived experiences may that be struggling with? What are reasons why they would be coming to therapy? Clients want to read your website and feel like you understand them.
  • If you mention various specialties on your homepage, I recommend adding pages that explains what that specialty is and how you work with it.

Directories

Clinicians should do research on each directory they are in, and the ones they want to get listed on, as they all will have different audiences, and saturation levels per your specialties.

Keywords across platforms that are crawled by Google are important for you to spend time on and adjust what you are investing in.

Social Media Platforms

The platforms providing value, in my educated opinion as a content creator, are #1- YouTube (long-form or short-form), #2- TikTok (though their algorithm will change once the sale to the US is finalized), and #3- Instagram since you can link it to Facebook and Threads (which I recommend doing).

  • For therapists I find that Instagram is mostly best for networking. If you are choosing this platform, pin the following two posts to your profile: 1) About yourself as a therapist and person, and 2) An ad about your accepting clients and who would be a good fit.

What we did NOT discuss, and what I recommend doing and looking into:

  • Images on your website should have an ALT ID description
  • Embedding Google Analytics into your website to track clicks per page
  • The name above your Instagram numbers such as your followers and posts is crawlable by Google. Include keywords people may be typing in the search like: Anxiety Therapist, DBT for Adults, Child and Adults Therapy, etc. It can also be your name.
  • YouTube’s recent creating engagement podcast content information

Inclusion of individual and group practices on our website does not mean we directly endorse or recommend their services. All of our members offer a free consultation and we recommend screening any and all potential therapists before beginning your therapy services. For any issues, please contact us via email. Therapists listed practice independently.
