Roger Medrano is a first-generation Latino and Army Veteran dedicated to helping individuals navigate life’s challenges and foster personal growth. Raised in Watts and South Gate, in a low-income household, he understands the struggles of financial hardship, systemic barriers, and limited resources. These experiences have shaped his deep sense of empathy and commitment to supporting others on their journey to healing and self-Discovery.
Roger holds a Master of Social Work from the University of Massachusetts and is pursuing his Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) at California Southern University. His clinical experience spans diverse populations, including adolescents, the LGBTQ+ community, individuals experiencing homelessness, and those managing substance use disorders.
Currently, he works as a clinical therapist in a psychiatric hospital, providing care for individuals diagnosed with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, major depressive disorder, and other complex mental health conditions.
Roger’s therapeutic approach is compassionate, direct, and practical. He utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI) to help clients develop effective coping strategies, increase self-awareness, and build resilience. He believes in therapy as a collaborative process where individuals are empowered to work through challenges and make meaningful changes in their lives.
“For things to change, you have to change. For things to get better, you have to get better. For things to improve, you have to improve. When you grow, everything in your life grows with you.” – Jim Rohn
