About

Children of immigrants often face many challenges. You may be struggling with feeling guilty, lonely, stressed, anxious, depressed, or overwhelmed with responsibility. You may be thinking you're not good enough or like you don't belong. You might be having issues setting boundaries with family or stuck between wanting to meet your family's expectations but also living your life. You might even be feeling shame for seeking help in therapy. Therapy can help provide a safe space to help you explore your experience as a child of immigrants, and/or being the first generation to attend a college or university. Therapy can help you with:

  • finding the language to describe your experiences
  • processing situations and thoughts
  • learning to feel your feelings
  • changing unhelpful behaviors
  • setting boundaries with others including family
  • communicating your needs
  • practicing self-compassion
  • confronting fears
  • feeling more confident and motivated
  • learning to ask for and accept help
  • developing your own expectations

Together, we’ll figure things out so you can begin building a life that feels safer, more joyful and easeful. I look forward to hearing from you. About my practice: I’m a licensed clinical social worker and I specialize in depression, anxiety, and trauma therapy. I provide therapy to late teens, adults, or older adults living in California, Colorado, or Texas. I also provide psychological evaluations for immigration cases such as U-Visa, VAWA, and Extreme Hardship in these states. I’m most passionate about empowering women, queer people, and children of immigrants who have felt misunderstood or mistreated. I like to work with people who are ready to start making gradual changes toward the life that aligns with their needs, values and desires. I want my clients to know there is no shame in living your truth, there is no shame in coming from where you come from, and no shame in what you’ve been through. I enjoy helping my clients shift their perspective and learn to integrate all parts of themselves. For more information, please visit: https://stillnesstherapy.net
