About Nicole Leon, ACSW

Hello, I am so glad you came across my profile. As a therapist, I strive to build safety, trust and transparency in every session. I work with folks holistically by addressing how the stressors and/or trauma are surfacing in the brain and body while also understanding how these symptoms are affecting the relationships they have with themselves and others. I also incorporate somatic practices such as mindfulness and body centered awareness into sessions to help improve the integration of body, mind and spirit.

I primarily work with adults who have had experiences of trauma, in particular sexual trauma, dating violence, and or intergenerational trauma, and individuals within the Latinx community regarding identity issues that surface as a result of being 1st+ generation in the US. I also work with couples, in particular when one or both have had experiences of interpersonal trauma, and am a Gottman Level 1 trained therapist. My practice is rooted in liberation which means I strive to have an ever growing knowledge and awareness of how systems of oppression including racism, the patriarchy, capitalism, etc. impact our collective and individual well-being. This also means that I strive to reduce the power balance between therapist and client and do so by centering my clients as experts on themselves, while I as a therapist serve as a mirror to foster space where my clients can be truly witnessed. I whole-heartedly believe my role as a therapist is to support my clients to safely look inward to unveil and develop tools they need to heal. It is an honor to be present with my clients as they do so.

I am a registered Associate Clinical Social Worker (ACSW) currently earning supervised hours in order to become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). My current Clinical Supervisor is Dr. Kristen Zaleski, LCSW #24996, trauma expert and author. I graduated with a Master of Social Work from USC and have worked as an advocate for survivors of interpersonal violence for 15 years. I have post graduate training in the Gottman Method, and the Safe and Sound Protocol. You can learn more about me & my practice at: www.NLeonTherapy.com

I wish you strength and peace as you embark on your healing journey.
