Hi I’m Marisela Rosales. I’m a bilingual Latina, daughter of Mexican immigrants, recovering perfectionist, wounded warrior, and on a reclamation journey to reconnect to the practices of my indigenous ancestors. As someone who has experienced anxiety since I was in the womb and has carried the impact of generational trauma and displacement, it’s important to me to create a space where people can feel safe in telling their own story and that of their lineage. My vision is to help black, indigenous, and women of color to find healing that feels supportive, culturally centered, and meaningful as they navigate what can be one of the bravest and most difficult things we can do for ourselves. Here you will find that you can just be you and don’t need to spend a lot of time providing context because I get you.
The clients I work with are women who are ready to break the cycles of trauma, fear, disconnection and self-doubt that keeps them from following their true desires. Often these women, the cycle breakers, are the first in their families to speak up, to address the pain they carry, to prioritize their wellbeing, to transform their relationship to rest, and access to joy. They often carry the guilt of wanting a more easeful and fulfilling life knowing that their parents and those before them sacrificed so much to give them a life with more opportunity. Sometimes the struggle is with asking for help or taking care of themselves, seeing this as a sign of weakness or selfishness when deep inside it’s exactly what they know they need.
I specialize in helping women develop a healthy attachment and relationship to themselves and their body first. It truly is a way to honor your ancestors and the sacrifices of your parents and those who came before you. I address and support women through challenges with anxiety, depression, trauma (including complex trauma, intergenerational trauma, and birth trauma), self esteem, identity, people-pleasing, imposter syndrome, self-doubt, burnout, cultural identity, attachment issues, disconnection to self and others, relationships, mother wounds, inner child healing, disconnection, life transitions, career uncertainty, and creative blocks. I also support women in developing a connection to their intuition and exploring spiritual practices that feel resonant for them including reconnecting to their lineage and cultural practices.
My approach to therapy and healing is holistic and rooted in body wisdom and ancestral practices, meaning that we honor that we already know and hold all the wisdom we need within our own bodies. The primary approaches I work with are somatic attachment therapy, nervous system healing, trauma informed therapy, interpersonal psychotherapy, somatic coaching, energy healing, and tarot.
The sessions are co-created and we move at the pace of your nervous system which means no two sessions are the same and the pace is usually much slower than you’d think. There is no tough love here, only compassionate love and attention for you, your inner child, and your experience. Together we get curious and we create the space to hold your story and what wants to be told. By working slowly and intentionally with your body through somatics, we are also creating the possibility for you to have more capacity to be with your own experience which in turn increases your capacity to transform your emotions and trauma. In sessions you can expect to not only talk but to also engage in movement, meditation, and breathwork to help you connect back to your body and to what needs support to shift out of survival mode.
