www.laurenmarietherapy.com As a first generation Filipino/Mexican-American, I integrate my own unique cultural background and the experience I have serving vulnerable communities into my work with clients so that the therapeutic relationship is culturally sensitive and trauma-informed. I believe that mental health is political and it is a therapist’s duty and ethical responsibility to understand how a person’s intersectional identities impact their social, emotional, and cognitive functioning with care and compassion. With over 12 years of experience in the mental health field, I’ve been fortunate enough to serve diverse groups, individuals, and communities in NYC and Los Angeles. My clinical experience serving women of color in Hollywood & South LA who’ve survived intimate partner violence and sexual assault, to working with the unhoused community in Skid Row, has allowed me to develop the understanding and skill set to work with trauma survivors. I specialize in working with trauma survivors and the impact on an individual's mental, emotional, and cognitive functioning. My experience ranges from highly vulnerable individuals who have experienced complex trauma to individuals coping with depression, anxiety, overall feeling overwhelmed due to generational trauma, caregiver burnout, various stressors of living in the world today.
