My mission is to provide counseling services to individuals and couples who are experiencing difficulties. All persons, regardless of identifiers, are recognized and respected for their unique cultural background and values.
My approach to counseling takes into account that each client is unique and views their problems and solutions from their unique perspective. Also, each client possesses unique talents and gifts that should be recognized and highlighted to strengthen their coping skills. I incorporate PCT, CBT, DBT, and Solution Focused Therapy in my practice. I find these therapies beneficial with brief therapy and to help move clients through the forest of life’s issues. I appreciate clients that identify their need for help and are willing to make life changes, and I represent the values of restoring hope, inspiring growth, and empowerment.
I spent years in the social service field working with the elderly, homeless, veterans, foster children and families, and individuals with disabilities. I’ve worked with adults and children experiencing depression, anxiety, PTSD, relationship and parenting issues, grief and loss, domestic abuse, substance and alcohol addiction, from any culture or ethnicity.
Prior to therapy, I spent 4 years in the Marine Corps, special forces, and understand the impacts of past trauma on life’s affairs. I have personally experienced the loss of a child and truly understand loss and grief. Also, with 33 years of addiction recovery myself, I understand and empathize with both the individual and the family as a whole.
