As a mental health practitioner, my deepest commitment is to honor each person as the true expert of their own life. As an Afro-Caribbean clinician, I intimately understand the pain of having our histories and stories invalidated or erased. This lived experience drives my passion for providing care where clients feel deeply understood—without the exhausting burden of educating their therapist about fundamental aspects of their identity. Research confirms what many marginalized communities already know: When clients perceive their therapist as trustworthy, they experience 40% faster symptom reduction (Del Re et al., 2012). This effect is even more pronounced for BIPOC and LGBTQ+ individuals, highlighting the transformative power of shared cultural understanding.
My clinical focus includes the complex layers of trauma: Childhood & intergenerational wounds, Racial, religious, and identity-based trauma, Sexual violence & immigration-related stress.
Approaches I use: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to reframe harmful thought patterns, Narrative Therapy to reclaim your story from oppressive systems, Motivational Interviewing to align healing with your values, and Trauma Informed to prevent causing additional harm.Â
Every person deserves a therapeutic space where their truth isn’t questioned but empowered. I’d be honored to collaborate with you.
