My View on Therapy: I believe that therapy is an opportunity to understand yourself in a new way, separate from the family who raised you, the society around you, and the stories you’ve told yourself about what you do and don’t deserve in life. Together, we’ll examine the thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that are contributing to the sense of overwhelm that you feel and look for ways to begin implementing changes in your day-to-day life. I connect deeply with my clients because I, too, have felt like an outsider before. I know what it’s like to feel misunderstood and disconnected from the people around you, and I’ve also experienced what it feels like to come back to myself and begin living in a way that’s true and authentic to me. I want to offer you a steadfast, welcoming environment where you can do the same.
About Me: My education and experience guide much of my work with my clients. I received my Masters of Social Work from Loma Linda University and my Major in Sociology from University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Previously, I’ve supported clients in a variety of settings, including individual and family therapies for: children, seniors, veterans, and other populations. I now specialize in supporting Latinx, BIPOC, and other minority communities. Many of my clients are in new phases of life and looking for support in the middle of the transition: going to college, entering the workforce, dating and getting married, and more.
My Training: My approach for individual therapy stems from my trainings in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Bibliotherapy, and Trauma Resiliency Model (TRM). I also draw from strength-based and solution-focused techniques to support you in achieving your goals. For couples, our work together is guided by the Gottman Method, which I have been formally trained in.
Our Practice: Our mission at Culture of Therapy Wellness Group is to provide authentic, curated, and innovative mental health care and training for the benefit of underrepresented, non-traditional, and contemporary groups. As a therapeutic and wellness service provider, we aim to be the architects of new practices in the culture, community, and profession of mental health care.
