  • Welcome Message

Hi! I’m Shaysa Villa, usually go by Shay. I am a psychotherapist in Chicago, Illinois. I am the owner of Roamers Therapy.

    Philosophy

Roamers Therapy was created understanding how hard it can be to find a modern therapist that does not sound cookie-cutter or vague. Roamers Therapy works particularly well with individuals in their late teens, 20s, 30s, or early 40s looking for a therapist that “gets it” Roamers Therapy takes a culturally competent, unique, and creative approach to therapy to help individuals and families achieve mental well-being. This may be a an overwhelming point in your life, but pursuing psychotherapy can be one of the most transformative experiences you can take.

As your therapist, I will help you navigate ways your thoughts may be negatively impacting your life. I will help you manage and grasp ways to cope and not allow anxiety and depression to derail your days. My role will be to be by your side& help you explore/ identify unclear reasons that prevent you from living or having your envisioned life. Therapy will ultimately help you get back to finding yourself, being yourself, and having a "go" at what you want out of life.

Roamers Therapy was developed understanding comparison culture and how it may be impacting your self worth and ability to make decisions. We will talk through your career, confusion, goals, achievements, and failures to help you feel less paralyzed. I may explore how societal expectations and family history have manifested in your everyday life. In turn, we may find out what gets in the way. Once we identify what gets in the way or derails, we will implement tangible and concrete changes that you are looking for.

My approach is compassionate and to truly listen. I seek to be in-tune with you as an individual. I’m fully aware the amount of courage it takes to reach out and seek change. It is always an honor to share the journey of therapy and an individuals’ story.
