Speaker Bio

Deniss Pleiner is a Mexican Immigrant, licensed therapist, and mental health advocate. She specializes in working with BIPOC Adults -- particularly in supporting first and second generation professionals in navigating bicultural identity, breaking toxic generational patterns, and battling impostor syndrome.

She's owner and Clinical Director of TOC Therapy-- a group practice in CA tailored to meet the needs of BIPOC Adults in individual and couples therapy.

Inside and outside of the therapy office, she covers mental health aspects that take into account our cultural experiences: from family dynamics and generational trauma to boundary setting and work-life balance. Deniss' dedication, expertise in BIPOC mental health, and commitment to supporting BIPOC adults have resulted in invitations to lead workshops and participate in panels on BIPOC Mental health for organizations that include: Pepperdine, UCLA, CalTech, Act Blue, Prospanica, NSPA, and more. She has also been featured in various podcasts including CNN Radio's Diversifying, and Werk Stories.

She strongly believes that everyone has a right to free mental health information and education and dedicates her free time to creating educational mental health content on Instagram & TikTok(@denisspleiner) and YouTube (Therapy, Explained).

Managing and Preventing Burnout:  Gain a better understanding of burnout through a lens of self-compassion and accountability. This session will help you identify red flags of burnout and provide you with coping tools and resources to take care of yourself and others. Learn how to set boundaries and reclaim your work-life balance. This interactive workshop also includes a grounding activity. At the end of this presentation attendees will:

  • Have a basic understanding of Burnout.
  • Know how their identities shape and influence how burnout develops.
  • Know the red flags of Burnout.
  • Build one grounding tool to support in addressing red flags.
  • Know where to start if they would like to seek additional support.

Stepping into Emotionally Intelligent Leadership In this workshop, attendees will learn how to use their leadership skills to grow into an emotionally intelligent leader. By tapping into their already established skills, attendees will learn communication and coping tools to not just manage their team but to foster a culture of innovation and self-motivation. By the end of this workshop, attendees will:

  • Know what emotional intelligence looks like day-to-day.
  • Learn tools for Emotionally Intelligent Leadership– and how to use them.
  • Learn how to set boundaries to facilitate effective leadership.
  • Have scripts of sample empathetic statements for boundary setting and feedback.
  • Start the journey of self-awareness as a leader.
  • Participate in grounding tools for self-regulation and grounding.

Deconstructing and Managing Impostor Syndrome: A workshop for BIPOC Professionals We don’t leave our racial, gender, or other identities at the door when we head to work/school. This workshop covers, explains, and explores how our various identities contribute to our sense of belonging at work/school. How do microaggressions affect the way we see ourselves? How does our parents or grandparents immigration history affect our motivation or self-evaluation? And what do we do about it? This interactive workshop also grounding activities to kickstart your own self-healing. At the end of this presentation attendees will:

  • Gain a social-justice framework understanding of Impostor Syndrome
  • Know how their identities shape and influence how it shows up in their personal and professional lives.
  • Know the red flags of Impostor syndrome.
  • Build one grounding tool to support in addressing red flags.
  • Know where to start if they would like to seek additional support.
