La Ansiedad Cuando Limpiamos

Hoy hablamos de un importante valor cultural, la limpieza. Es posible que no se ha realizado, pero la forma en que se nos enseña a limpiar y la razón por la que hacemos la limpieza tiene implicaciones para la salud mental que pasan inadvertidamente porque se realizan de forma automática y / o diaria. Para muchas personas en nuestra comunidad, la limpieza es uno de los elementos que nos da estatus, o quizás una de las cosas sobre las que realmente tenemos control. Discutimos la vergüenza que ha tenido la limpieza, las inseguridades de pedir ayuda para la limpieza, o incluso contratar ayuda para la limpieza, de dónde proviene el resentimiento cuando hay una falta de ayuda, limpieza cuando se trata de niños y cómo reconciliar los estilos de limpieza con otros con quien vivimos con.

Nuestra invitada: Lorena Salazar es una latina de primera generación criada en Inglewood California. Se especializa en hijos, adultos y parejas casadas que están cuidando a un adulto mayor y / o alguien con una enfermedad degenerativa como el Alzheimers, y práctica en Torrence, California. Ella creció en un hogar mexicano donde la salud mental nunca se hablo de o incluso se reconoció, sino que se vio como un “defecto personal” o característica personal. La madre de Lorena era una limpiadora de casa y se dio cuenta de que en realidad era un mecanismo de afrontamiento para los adultos en su hogar. Hasta hace poco no sé habido discusiones abiertamente de la salud mental en su familia.

The Mental Health of Pre-Licensed Therapists

In this episode, we speak with two Latina Therapists, one that is still at my practice, and the other that launched her own practice upon licensure. Rubí Vásquez, LMFT and Jennifer León Salinas, AMFT discuss systemic barriers and challenges, how to build support during associateships, and advocacy recommendations when needing accomodations for licensing exams. They also shared what their experience was like at my group practice when I had to take an abrupt leave and how they coped as associates.
